233 Broadway, 12th Floor, New York, NY, 10279, Tel 212-334-1300, Fax 212-941-9407 JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Job Title: SENIOR PROGRAM ASSOCIATE Start Date: Immediate Description: The Accessing Safety Initiative provides support to non-profit organizations, government agencies, and communities interested in improving their services for individuals with disabilities and Deaf individuals who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. Using a variety of methods, the Accessing Safety Initiative currently provides technical assistance and training to 15 federally-funded initiatives, each comprising a collaboration of state or local organizations that serve victims of violence and/or people with disabilities. Responsibilities: Reporting directly to ASI’s director, the senior program associate will: Essential Job Functions * Manage and design assistance to program clients, including one-on-one consultations, conference calls, intensive on-site assistance in the field, and other forms of assistance as appropriate; * Assist in the design of multi-jurisdictional and national meetings and other technical assistance engagements; * Develop and maintain relationships with ASI’s associates and clients; * Develop case studies of program sites’ processes and interventions; * Develop, research, and write program materials, including publications and briefing memoranda; * Assist with program development; and * Maintain a travel schedule of 30 percent of time worked. Non-Essential Job Functions * Represent the program in public speaking engagements and professional meetings * Assist on other projects as assigned Qualifications: Candidates must possess the following: * A graduate degree in a related field * At least six years of work experience in public policy, advocacy, or government * A demonstrated knowledge of issues concerning domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking * A demonstrated knowledge of accessibility, disability (including mental health), and/or Deaf culture * Analytical thinking and rapid problem-solving skills * Strong diplomacy and negotiation skills * Excellent communications skills and very high attention to details * The ability to manage work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently * A willingness to travel outside of NYC frequently Relocation to the NYC area is preferred, but not necessary.
