Vision

The vision of the Women with Disabilities Empowerment Project is that women with disabilities and Deaf women who are affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking are empowered by receiving appropriate, safe, effective and accessible responses from integrated services in Dutchess County, and, subsequently, Ulster and Orange Counties.

Mission

We seek to create meaningful, sustainable change that results in appropriate, effective, safe, and accessible services for individuals with disabilities and Deaf individuals who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.  We will accomplish this by:

  • Incorporating voices of survivors with disabilities, disabilities/violence against women service providers, and diverse community stakeholders.
  • Identifying system gaps and developing training and technical assistance to fill gaps.
  • Utilizing universal design principles in developing creative solutions to address barriers to accessibility.
  • Nurturing and sustaining the collaboration.
