Overview

The Kentucky collaboration – named Project SAFE (Safety and Accessibility for Everyone) – is comprised of seven state-level organizations that have been working together since 2005.  Since this time, Project SAFE has been working with state-level technical assistance providers to raise awareness, improve accessibility, and train service providers and criminal justice professionals about sexual assault and domestic violence among individuals with disabilities.  In 2008, Project SAFE received a grant from the Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women to continue their efforts in supporting service providers in Kentucky in providing accessible, responsive and comprehensive person-centered services to individuals with disabilities who have been subjected to sexual assault or domestic violence.

Planning & Development Process

In order to effectively improve services and create change, the Kentucky collaboration is taking part in a planning and development process that includes activities to: strengthen their collaboration, identify their focus, learn about the needs in their organizations, and develop a concrete plan for addressing those needs. This section contains files that document this process.

Collaboration Charter

As part of the planning phase of their grant project, the Kentucky collaboration has created a collaboration charter. This document outlines the collaborative's members, member roles and responsibilities, vision and mission, values and relevant definitions. The collaboration charter also describes the team's decision making and conflict resolution protocols, policies on confidentiality, and their communication and work plans. Project SAFE’s collaboration charter is available in both a PDF version and a Text version below.
