Step Five: Analyze and Interpret Data

After your collaboration has collected all of the required data, it is time to analyze it. There are many different ways to analyze data. The strategy your collaboration uses depends on the type of data you have collected and your needs assessment goals and objectives. If there are not members of your collaboration who have experience with data analysis, consider getting a volunteer from your local university or college to assist in the analysis.

Questions to Answer

  • What services currently exist for people with disabilities, individuals who are Deaf, and victims/survivors of violence?
  • What are the strengths and needs of the current services?
  • How do the strengths and needs vary for different groups of people with disabilities or individuals who are Deaf?
  • Does the evidence support our assertions?
  • What strategies were suggested to address unmet needs that were identified?
  • What more do we need to know? If more information is needed, how will we follow up?

Findings to Explore

Once your collaboration has documented the findings, present the initial findings at one of your regularly scheduled meetings and discuss the findings. For example, is the gap due to a lack of skill or knowledge? Is it due to a lack of financial resources? Identifying the causes or factors contributing to a gap will help your collaboration identify potential solutions.
