A Comprehensive Resource for Information on Accessible Transportation

Easter Seals Project ACTION – A National Resource

Easter Seals Project ACTION This link will open a new browser window. (Accessible Community Transportation In Our Nation) offers a wealth of information on accessible transportation, as well as technical assistance on access to transportation options nationally. Congress originally commissioned Easter Seals Project ACTION in 1988 as a research and demonstration project to improve access to public transportation for people with disabilities. With the passage of the ADA two years later, their goals expanded to help transportation operators implement the law's transportation provisions.

  • Project ACTION’s mission is to get two groups to achieve one goal: get the transportation industry and the disability community to work together to increase mobility for people with disabilities under the ADA and beyond.
  • Project ACTION’s mission is met by improving the ability of people across the spectrum of ability to have equal access on the same transit systems as other users and to have reliable parallel systems if accessible fixed route will not serve their needs.
