Cities with populations over 50,000 or counties with over 200,000 are designated entitlement communities for HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

  • CDBG funds are used by the cities to develop and or rehabilitate housing.
  • These funds can also be used to covert buildings to residential space or enhance community housing infrastructure.
  • Non-profit and human service agencies can apply for CDGB funds from the entitlement cities to address the housing needs of its client population.
  • Persons with disabilities can also apply for CDBG funds for accessibility modifications for housing.

To learn what your city is offering contact either its community development or planning department. These agencies may be listed on the municipal website as well as in the government section of the local telephone directory.
