Housing Search Assistance
There are resources to assist you and your clients with disabilities to locate housing that is appropriate to their specific needs.
- Nationwide, there are Centers for Independent Living
. These Centers provide advocacy plus information and referral on available services to persons with disabilities and their families. Many Centers can provide information regarding accessible housing in their service area. - HUD maintains a database listing of all its funded accessible units for persons with disabilities and elders.
- Some of the State Executive Housing Offices and Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) are beginning to develop listings of their accessible housing stock as well.
